Course Description
This course is designed to give students an analytical perspective on government and politics in the United States. It will include both the study of general concepts used to interpret U.S. politics and the analysis of specific examples. Topics that may be included are constitutional underpinnings of the United States government, political beliefs and behaviors, political parties, interest groups and mass media, institutions of national government, public policy, civil rights and civil liberties. Although there is no prerequisite for this course, students should familiarize themselves with the various institutions, groups, beliefs and ideas that constitute U.S. politics. NCAA approved. |

Course Notes
Required summer reading will be assigned. Students in this course are strongly encouraged to participate in the Advanced Placement examination administered by the College Board in May. This course fulfills the civics requirement. |
